We all have the capacity to be intuitive,  I don’t care who you are or where you come from, part of the human condition (I believe) is to be intuitive.  To me, being intuitive means that you get “inklings” of knowing or understanding of how things are which is not to be confused with being clairvoyant.  Being intuitive could be because of all manner of things from whatever spiritual beliefs you may or may not hold to just another way to explain how a part of our brain works.

Now, sometimes my intuition bumps up against being clairvoyant or psychic but I think that is just because sometimes I “know” or “get” things where I don’t have an understanding of how I get them. They just happen.  I would imagine that many artists, writers, and entrepreneurs flow with an outward manifesting of their intuition all the time.  The flow is just so natural to them, whether it be how they paint, create, write or brainstorm ideas, that they just don’t think twice about it most of the time.

Many years ago I was privileged to be part of a spiritual/psychic/enter name here kind of a group that came together to explore our intuitive side more deeply.  One of those friends really delved into her animal communication which became her life’s vocation (Leta, that’s you!).  I learned all kinds of levels and skills regarding animal communication and have played around with communicating with my animals, critters who live in the wild around me and other people’s animals for many years now.  Most of the time, I still don’t know if  I’m really having a communication with an animal or if it is just my fanciful imagination.  Except those times when things occur that just hover on the edge of being possible.  Like this evening for instance.

But let me back-up to create the scenario.  One of my cats, who I feel a special bonding with–K.C., had been gone for going on five days.  This summer, whether it be because of the heat, the drought, the Paul dog, Greybar or just sheer curiosity, has been one of K.C. taking mini-trips for 4 days or so without coming home and checking in for the night.  As we live out in the country, her being gone can be very nerve wracking as many of our neighbors have lost cats to coyotes, foxes and all kinds of things that go bump in the night.  The first couple of times K.C. didn’t come home, I suspected that she had crawled in some neighbor’s shed or garage and gotten stuck because she always came home skinny and famished.  But this last time, I thought she had either made the decision to find another home because she was pissed about the Paul dog chasing her or had been eaten.

So this evening, I went out to the porch swing in the backyard and got in my meditation pose, did my breathing, and then very clearly and neutrally began trying to connect with K.C.’s brain portal in my mind.  Finally, I began silently calling out to her calmly thinking K.C. where are you?  I’d been doing this for no less than three minutes and pictured her hopping over the back fence, jumping up on the porch and walking towards me when I heard her meow and opened my eyes and there she was walking towards me.  Now I don’t know if what happened here was sheer beautiful coincidence or if I had actually “reached” K.C. but I sure was happy either way.  I also sensed that she was glad to see me and welcomed the calm space that I had created for her to enter via being in a meditative state of mind.

Sometimes these things that we humans are capable of doing such as animal communication, being intuitive, etc. come so naturally and easily to us that some of us may disregard them.  But I think that may be the point of so many miracles in our life that they are much more elegant than we would ever imagine and with just a bit of effort on our part, whatever special gifts you may have inside of you can be brought out. If only to hear the friendly meow of a missing cat.

What do you want to take a closer look at that may just be a gift that you didn’t realize you had?

Blog #70 Ain’t Nuttin’ Quite Like Black Cat Love!

I’ve been racking my brains out trying to figure out how I could be of service to anyone who happens upon this blog AND acknowledge and share about how there just “ain’t nuttin” quite like black cat love–mostly because our 18 year old Queen Bee black cat went to the big beyond yesterday. And she went exactly as she wanted to go in our home with me there helping her to birth her soul from this world to the next.

The way that I love animals is probably something that if I shared more about it, I could help other people either deepen the love and understanding that they already have with animals or at least help someone who does not “get” animals to become curious. But to tell you the truth, I have gotten so tired of how people that don’t get animals interpret/judge/believe/see those of us that do get animals that I just don’t have the patience to deal with their ignorance. Leave that to someone else better equipped with patience and steadfastness than me.

So this blog is for those of you who get it about critters. And if you at least get it about some kind of a critter — and don’t particularly care for cats of any kind — well, then, I invite you to bring in that awareness and fondness for the animal that you do so that I can help you to widen your horizons about cats and black cats in particular.

It’s been my experience that domestic cats are truly the mini-mini-mini watered down version of the bigger cats like Leopards and Lions and Cougars and maybe even Tigers in a few instances. Our black cat Rosie, was definitely a leopard. She was smart as hell too in figuring out how to do things like capturing a milar floating balloon after one birthday party and carrying it around the house by it’s string only to harness it steady by dragging it under the table. She did the same thing 2-3 times because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

I also think Rosie figured out a long time ago that some humans know how to “receive” information from animals in pictures or words or a “knowing” but more often than not, many humans had no idea they could. She didn’t care, she’d just “send” to them anyway. As luck would have it, we tend to bring people into our homes that are the animal-communicating type. Rosie was the kind of cat who would get things done, and in a very subtle way. I can’t tell you the number of times I’d find myself in the kitchen dishing up some tiny little tasty meat dish to put down for her–but at a time that I usually didn’t feed her—and with something that wasn’t her food–only to look down and see Rosie blinking up at me with her big yellow eyes. I had received her message and was carrying out her plan.

A family member who is very close to me and will remain anonymous, said in regards to Rosie that “that there was a piece of heaven” and admitted to having been lulled into Rosie’s desires one time when he was cat-sitting, by pulling a guitar of the wall and proceeding to sing her songs. I’m sure she blinked her eyes at him with approval. He knew he’d been “had” by a black cat.

My heart is full and sad that my Queen Bee Rosie had shed her Earth suit, but I just couldn’t let another day go on without acknowledging all the good work that she did with her human family and all the love and laughs we enjoyed because of her. May you be blessed with knowing a black cat someday.

Sail on dear Rosie and may your every meow be granted.

Favorite Dragon quote, “Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.” ~ Dilbert by Scott Adams

My husband, David, and me and our friends Julie and Robert just got back from seeing the movie, “How to Train Your Dragon” http://tiny.cc/pn52d. It was definitely a two paws up because I got up a couple of times to get away from the drama of it (can’t handle anything happening to animals….even in a cartoon) and without giving too much away…it does end well.

As I’m typing this blog right now, the infamous Rosie-Queen-Bee 17 year old cat is up on my desk purring away and both dogs are curled around our chairs panting and hanging out. There’s just about nothing quite as soothing to me as a contended beast.

Thank God I’ve always seemed to have known the incredible peace and love that comes from connecting with critters. I’ve had many special beings come into my life over the years and for that I am truly grateful. I’m also glad that I’ve been able to recognize the communication taking place from my animals and me in the process. A dear old friend of mine, Leta Worthington, http://tiny.cc/r6v8a has been communicating with all kinds of animals for at least a couple of decades now. She teaches various kinds of animal communication classes so that you can learn as well.

You may be wondering what animals and business have in common. Well, there’s a heckuva lot. One thing I was reminded of in the early 90’s is that we humans, as much as we’d like to ignore the fact, are animals of a sort too. I met a woman after reading an article in the Statesman who was half African American and half Navajo and her main service in life was rescuing hybrid wolves and rehabilitating them.

My friend took on this work after she made the mistake of thinking she understood what a hybrid wolf was because she assumed they’d be very similar to the German Shepherds she raised for years. Within a very short period of time she realized that if someone like herself who cared for animals as much as she did could make the mistake of not understanding that a half dog/half wolf would always be in a wrestling match with itself, then surely others would make the same mistake as well. And she was so right. She would get calls from all over the country on an almost weekly, if not daily, basis with some law enforcement officer asking her why they shouldn’t just go ahead and put down the animal. By the time she pulled up her stakes in Austin and moved to Chaco Canyon with her wolves, she had about 20 wolves to take with her.

I’ll never forget the first time I met my friend and her wolves. It was at night and as I drove down her driveway I remember how the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I didn’t see the wolves, I didn’t hear the wolves (who were in pens by the way), I didn’t smell the wolves, but every corpuscle in my body could feel them. I learned a lot from those guys over the course of a summer. My friend had one “mega” wolf as she called him who weighed over 200 pounds. He was a big mammer jammer. The first time he let me know who was boss was in broad daylight as my friend walked me across the yard to meet one of her female wolves. All I remember was as we walked across the lawn, this mega wolf in his pen about 50 feet away bristled and poofed up all his hair and stood really still looking at me. At least I had enough sense not to look at him, but I knew I was being addressed by him. Seems this wolf knew before I did that I would send out my energy about 50 feet around me in all directions to sense what was out there. He was irritated with me for crossing his boundary. I never knew that I could violate a boundary with my energy. I mean my mom used to tell me that I did that, but you know….that was my mom!!! This was a 200 pound wolf!

Ever since then I’ve been more careful about how I use my energy and more respectful of boundaries.

This kind of energy bopping is something we can do every day in a business setting. Just like the wolves have a sophisticated system of reading eye, head, and body movement not to mention markings on the face, we humans do the same thing with each other. In fact, we take in so much non-verbal communication from each other within a few seconds/minutes of meeting each other that it just isn’t funny.

So…..go see the “Train Your Dragon” movie and watch how the kid works with the dragons and then if you have animals, observe how they communicate with you…because they do. If you don’t have animals, then just pay attention to the humans who come to the next meeting your at and how they interact with you.

Who knows, there may be a dragon incognito amongst them!
