All of us have our own “genius” surely you know that it’s just that some of us have genius that is really, really obvious (like Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein) and others have a quiet genius but it is no less a genius it’s just exhibited in a different way.
If we examine genius, what does it mean? According to Dictionary.com the first four definitions are as follows:
1. an exceptional natural capacity of intellect, especially as shown in creative and original work in science, art, music, etc.: the genius of Mozart.
2. a person having such capacity.
3. a person having an extraordinarily high intelligence rating on a psychological test, as an IQ above 140.
4. natural ability or capacity; strong inclination: a special genius for leadership.
So if we gauge genius on intellect alone then I guess that knocks out a good percentage of us but if we looked at genius in terms of “an exceptional natural capacity of being who you are better than anyone else can be” than couldn’t it be argued that you would be a genius of being you?
Dictionary.com has a fifth definition for genius, which is:
5. distinctive character or spirit, as of a nation, period, or language.
That could support the premise that if you had the capacity of being who you are better than anyone else than you had a distinctive character, right?
If each one of us is born into this life with our own spark of genius, what is yours? What is the one thing that you can do better than anyone else because it is you and you are doing it? It may be something that you can think of or do so naturally that it doesn’t even occur to you that, that is your genius because surely if it comes to you so easily then it must come to a multitude of other people that easily as well, right? Perhaps, but more than likely, no.
So what sparked this conversation about genius tonight? Just got back from watching the movie about Mark Zuckerberg and FaceBook, “The Social Network”. Wow. The whole idea of the social network was right there in front of everyone and a few had made some stabs at some sns but not a FB. I love it when a genius can manifest what was an idea out of thin air and make it happen. Mozart did it when he composed his symphonies, and on and on and on. Symphonies to Mozart is like programming to Zuckerberg is like ? to you? Maybe you won’t make 25 Billion dollars from manifesting your genius, maybe you won’t even make a dollar but there will be an even exchange of energy coming back to you—I believe that is universal law.
What is sitting right in front of you or right beside you that is asking for your attention?
Has your genius been realized yet?The Social Network
